You Are a Badass at Making Money Master the Mindset of Wealth
By Jen Sincero

“You Are a Badass at Making Money” is a self-help book by Jen Sincero that focuses on changing the reader’s mindset around money. Sincero combines personal anecdotes, humor, and practical advice to inspire readers to overcome their fears and limiting beliefs about wealth, allowing them to attract more financial success into their lives.

Key Themes

1. Mindset Shift: The core message of the book is that making money is largely about mindset. Sincero emphasizes that to become wealthy, one must first believe they are capable of it. She discusses the importance of identifying and overcoming negative beliefs about money, which often stem from childhood experiences or societal conditioning.
2. Positive Affirmations and Visualization: Sincero advocates for the use of positive affirmations and visualization techniques to manifest wealth. She argues that regularly affirming one’s financial goals and visualizing success can reprogram the subconscious mind to align with these goals.
3. Taking Risks and Stepping Out of Comfort Zones: Sincero encourages readers to take bold actions and step out of their comfort zones to achieve financial success. She shares her own experiences of taking risks and making investments in herself, which led to significant financial growth.
4. Gratitude and Generosity: Another important theme is the practice of gratitude. Sincero believes that being grateful for what one already has, and being generous with others, creates a positive energy flow that attracts more wealth. She also suggests that this practice helps shift the focus away from scarcity and towards abundance.
5. Overcoming Fear: Sincero addresses the fear of failure and the fear of success, both of which can prevent people from pursuing their financial goals. She provides strategies for dealing with these fears, such as reframing failure as a learning opportunity and recognizing the benefits of financial success.

Personal Development Techniques

Throughout the book, Sincero offers practical exercises designed to help readers apply the principles she discusses. These exercises include:

Writing down money mantras and reciting them daily.
Creating vision boards to visualize financial goals.
Tracking income and expenses to become more aware of financial habits.
Setting clear, measurable financial goals.

Writing Style and Tone

Jen Sincero’s writing style is informal, humorous, and highly motivational. She uses a conversational tone, often speaking directly to the reader as though they were having a personal chat. Her use of humor and relatable anecdotes makes the book engaging and easy to read, even for those who may not typically enjoy personal finance books.

Criticism

Some readers may find Sincero’s approach overly simplistic or feel that the book leans too heavily on the concept of “manifestation” without offering enough concrete financial advice. Additionally, while the book is very motivating, it may not resonate with readers who are looking for more traditional financial planning strategies.

Conclusion

“You Are a Badass at Making Money” is a motivational guide that focuses on the psychological and emotional aspects of financial success. By encouraging readers to change their mindset and take bold actions, Sincero offers a fresh perspective on wealth-building that combines self-help principles with financial empowerment. While it may not serve as a comprehensive financial guide, it is a valuable resource for those looking to break free from limiting beliefs and start their journey toward financial freedom.

Jen Sincero’s writing style is conversational, humorous, and direct. She uses personal anecdotes and straightforward language to connect with readers. Her tone is both encouraging and no-nonsense, pushing readers to take responsibility for their lives and make the necessary changes.

Critical Analysis:

You Are a Badass is effective in delivering its message due to its relatable examples and practical advice. Sincero’s humor and straightforward approach make the content engaging, especially for readers new to self-help literature. However, some critics argue that the book can be repetitive and that its advice is sometimes overly simplistic.

The book is particularly appealing to those who appreciate a casual, down-to-earth approach to self-improvement. Its blend of motivation, spirituality, and practical advice has resonated with many readers seeking to make significant changes in their lives.

Conclusion:

You Are a Badass is a powerful guide for anyone looking to overcome self-doubt and step into their full potential. I did attempt to make a latte and some good tasting coffee while reading this book, after reading how to make a latte.  ☕️ blog note I also cut up a t-shirt creating a v-neck from a crew neck T, I made a cut up the sides to create a big T look, and made a couple of of cuts on the sleeves.  Not only is the t-shirt comfy now it’s also cool ๐Ÿชญand cool❣️ ๐Ÿ˜Ž I’ve also taken pictures of the cardigans I’ve crocheted ๐Ÿงถ

Legends & Lattes

By Travis Baldree

Legends & Lattes” by Travis Baldree is a cozy, heartwarming fantasy novel that blends the charm of traditional high fantasy with the comfort of a slice-of-life story. Set in a magical world filled with orcs, gnomes, and other fantastical creatures, the novel diverges from the typical fantasy epic by focusing on the small, everyday struggles of its protagonist, Viv, an orc barbarian.

Summary

Viv, the main character, has spent years as a mercenary, fighting and adventuring her way across the land. But she grows weary of the constant battles and decides to retire from her life of violence. Her dream? To open the first-ever coffee shop in the city of Thune, a place where no one has ever heard of coffee. With her last treasure in hand—a magical artifact known as the Scalvert’s Stone—Viv sets out to turn her dream into reality.

As Viv navigates the challenges of starting a business, she assembles a small team to help her. Cal, a taciturn and skilled carpenter, helps her build the shop, while Tandri, a succubus, becomes her barista and business partner. They are later joined by Thimble, a talented ratkin baker whose pastries become a hit with the locals.

The story is not just about the success of Viv’s coffee shop but also about the friendships she builds and the past she learns to leave behind. As the shop gains popularity, Viv must confront her old life when her former mercenary colleagues come looking for her, threatening the peace she has worked so hard to achieve.

Themes

1. Redemption and Reinvention: Viv’s journey is one of personal transformation, moving from a life defined by violence to one centered around community and peace. The book explores how people can change their paths and find new purpose in unexpected places.

2. Community and Belonging: The relationships Viv forms with her employees and customers highlight the importance of community. The coffee shop becomes a haven not just for Viv but for others who are seeking connection and a place where they belong.

3. Breaking Stereotypes: Viv challenges the traditional fantasy trope of orcs being brutish warriors by becoming a peaceful entrepreneur. Similarly, other characters, like Tandri, who is a succubus, and Thimble, a ratkin, defy their own stereotypes.

4. The Simple Pleasures of Life: The novel emphasizes the joy found in small, everyday pleasures—like a good cup of coffee or a freshly baked pastry. It’s a reminder that not all stories need to be epic quests; sometimes, the quiet moments are just as significant.

Writing Style

Travis Baldree’s writing is simple and straightforward, which suits the cozy tone of the novel. The descriptions of the coffee shop, the pastries, and the interactions between characters are vivid, making the reader feel like they are a part of Viv’s world. The pacing is gentle, with the plot focusing more on character development and the daily operations of the coffee shop than on high-stakes action.

Conclusion

“Legends & Lattes” is a delightful departure from traditional fantasy novels, offering a story that is both comforting and uplifting. It’s a tale about finding new beginnings, building community, and savoring the simple joys in life. Perfect for readers who enjoy character-driven stories and cozy settings, this novel invites you to sit back, relax, and enjoy a warm cup of coffee with a side of fantasy.

Book Review

The Rule Of Luck: a science fiction romance

by Catherine Cerveny

The Rule of Luck by Catherine Cerveny is an intriguing blend of science fiction and romance, set in a futuristic world where advanced technology and mystical elements coexist. The novel follows the story of Felicia Sevigny, a tarot card reader living in a highly stratified society where one’s future is often dictated by genetics, luck, and powerful corporations.

Felicia’s life takes a dramatic turn when she encounters Alexei Petriv, a mysterious and powerful Russian crime lord. Drawn into a dangerous game involving corporate espionage, genetic manipulation, and interplanetary travel, Felicia must navigate a complex world where trust is a luxury she can’t afford. Her unique abilities as a tarot reader make her a valuable asset in this high-stakes world, and her growing relationship with Alexei adds both tension and passion to the story.

Cerveny’s world-building is one of the novel’s highlights. The setting, a futuristic Earth with space travel and a society heavily influenced by technology and genetics, is richly detailed and immersive. The blend of science fiction with the mystical element of tarot adds a unique twist that sets the book apart from typical sci-fi romances.

The romance between Felicia and Alexei is central to the story, and it’s developed with a mix of tension and chemistry that keeps the reader engaged. Still, their dynamic is compelling enough to drive the narrative forward.

One of the strengths of The Rule of Luck is its fast-paced plot. The story is filled with action, twists, and turns that keep the reader on their toes.

Overall, The Rule of Luck is an entertaining read for fans of both science fiction and romance. Its unique blend of genres, strong world-building, and engaging plot make it a standout in the sci-fi romance subgenre. While it may not break new ground in terms of character development or relationship dynamics, it’s a fun and fast-paced adventure that will keep readers turning the pages.

Book Review

I just completed the third book from Queen of Hearts ♥️

Finding myself shedding a few  tears for now, looking for an outlet to cry.

This is a great bibliography of the Queen of Hearts.  It feels in the missing pieces we didn’t know about her.  ♥️

For my book challenge I’m 21/37 books read ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m clearing off my bookshelf and wish list❣️

Book 3

War Of The Cards

War of the Cards by Colleen Oakes is the final installment in her Queen of Hearts trilogy, a dark and twisted reimagining of the classic Alice in Wonderland tale. In this book, we see the culmination of Dinah’s journey as she prepares to wage war against her tyrannical father, the King of Hearts, to reclaim her rightful throne.

The novel dives deep into the themes of power, betrayal, and the struggle for identity. Dinah is a compelling protagonist—flawed, fierce, and driven by a mix of vengeance and a desire to protect those she loves. Her evolution from a sheltered princess to a battle-hardened leader is portrayed with depth and nuance. Oakes does a fantastic job of showing the weight of responsibility on Dinah’s shoulders and the moral dilemmas she faces as she inches closer to her goal.

The world-building in War of the Cards is as vivid and imaginative as in the previous books. The Wonderland that Oakes creates is familiar yet distinctly her own, filled with danger, political intrigue, and a cast of complex characters. The pacing is brisk, with plenty of action and tension to keep readers engaged. However, the book also leaves room for quieter, more introspective moments, allowing readers to connect with Dinah on a deeper level.

One of the strengths of this novel is its exploration of the nature of power and what it means to be a ruler. Dinah’s struggle with these concepts is central to the story, and her growth as a character is tied closely to her understanding of leadership. The book doesn’t shy away from the darker aspects of power, making it clear that the path to the throne is fraught with difficult choices and sacrifices.

The conclusion of the trilogy is satisfying, tying up the various plot threads while leaving some elements open to interpretation, which adds to the story’s depth. The final showdown between Dinah and the King of Hearts is intense and emotionally charged, providing a fitting climax to the series.

Overall, War of the Cards is a strong conclusion to the Queen of Hearts trilogy. It’s a dark, thought-provoking, and thrilling read that will appeal to fans of reimagined fairy tales and complex, character-driven stories. Colleen Oakes has crafted a memorable and unique take on Wonderland, and this final book delivers on the promise of the series, providing a satisfying and impactful end to Dinah’s journey.

Book Review

Hi❣️ Avid reader here, T1na Ba1ley, here clearing off my bookshelf, and my book wishlist one to two books at a time❣️ I’m also on Goodreads with a book challenge going on right now!

Queen of Hearts

By Colleen Oakes

In *Queen of Hearts*, Colleen Oakes takes us deep into the dark and twisted world of Wonderland, offering a fresh perspective on a familiar tale. This is not the Wonderland of whimsy and playful nonsense, but rather a realm filled with political intrigue, betrayal, and the looming threat of madness. Oakes reimagines the origin story of one of literature's most infamous villains, the Queen of Hearts, in a way that is both captivating and chilling.

The story follows Dinah, the Princess of Wonderland, as she struggles to live up to the expectations of her tyrannical father, the King of Hearts. Dinah's life is thrown into disarray when an illegitimate sister, Vittiore, suddenly appears, threatening her claim to the throne. As Dinah navigates the treacherous court politics, she uncovers secrets that could unravel everything she thought she knew about her family and her destiny. The narrative is a blend of mystery, suspense, and a dash of romance, all set against the backdrop of a Wonderland that is as dangerous as it is magical.

*Queen of Hearts* explores themes of power, identity, and the corruption that often accompanies the pursuit of control. Oakes delves into the psychological aspects of Dinah’s transformation, showing how fear, betrayal, and the weight of expectation can push someone toward the darker aspects of their nature. The story also touches on the idea of destiny—whether we are bound by our past or if we have the power to forge our own path.

Dinah is a complex and well-developed protagonist. Her evolution from a naive princess to a queen in the making is both tragic and compelling. The supporting characters, such as Wardley, her childhood friend and love interest, and the enigmatic Cheshire, add depth to the narrative. Oakes skillfully portrays Dinah’s internal struggle, making her both relatable and sympathetic, even as she teeters on the brink of becoming a villain.

Oakes' writing is vivid and atmospheric, perfectly capturing the eerie and oppressive atmosphere of Wonderland. Her descriptions are richly detailed, bringing the world to life in a way that is both enchanting and unsettling. The pacing is steady, with each chapter building upon the tension and mystery that drives the plot forward. Oakes’ ability to weave a complex tale of intrigue while maintaining a tight narrative focus is one of the novel’s strengths.

One of the standout aspects of *Queen of Hearts* is its unique take on the classic Wonderland story. Oakes doesn’t shy away from exploring the darker sides of the characters and the world they inhabit, which makes for a more mature and gripping read. The character development, particularly Dinah’s, is another strength, as readers are taken on a journey that is as much about self-discovery as it is about the broader plot.

*Queen of Hearts* is a compelling start to what promises to be an intriguing series. Colleen Oakes successfully reimagines a well-known tale, adding depth and darkness to a story that has long been associated with whimsy. Fans of fantasy, retellings, and young adult fiction will find this book an engaging and thought-provoking read. It’s a must-read for anyone interested in the origins of one of literature’s most iconic villains.

I rated this book a five out of five stars!  5/5
